Thank you for taking the time to consider Volunteering with Crime Stoppers in Queensland.CSQL Volunteering

You could be the newest member of a growing force of like-minded citizens who are actively making a difference, by helping Crime Stoppers to deliver a safer Queensland for all.

As a community volunteer organisation Crime Stoppers Queensland is reliant on Volunteers offering their support, passion and dedication to assist our program with achieving its mission of ‘A safe empowered community’.

With your help – we can be one step closer.

Since beginning operations in 1989, Crime Stoppers Queensland has received over 608,000 phone calls and website reports. This information has led to over 55,700 criminal charges and has helped to solve 21 murders and 19 attempted murders in the State.

Anonymous reports have also helped to recover in excess of $9.9 million in stolen property over the last 22 years.

We depend on your support to help our community initiatives to succeed, to empower our services and to drive our fundraising activities.

Crime Stoppers takes this opportunity say a huge ‘thank-you’ for considering your availability to volunteer your services for our program.

We look forward to your support.

A FOCUS ON OUR EFFORTS – Promotions

Crime Stoppers Volunteers participate in a variety of promotional activities in order to directly engage the Queensland community to report anonymous information about crime.CSQL Promotions

Those activities include attending local fetes, festivals, regional shows, shopping centre displays, advertising signage and, community presentations.

Volunteers are the direct link between the local community and the Crime Stoppers program.  Speaking with a local Volunteer about the program, its anonymity guarantee and what types of information can be provided, will generally result in increased contact with the call centre or online reports.

The distribution of promotional material at these activities provides communities with immediate access to our hotline and website address.

This direct contact is instrumental to the program’s success.

A FOCUS ON OUR EFFORTS – Fundraising:

The key feature of the Crime Stoppers program is the anonymity guarantee offered to all information providers.  Crime Stoppers pays rewards for information which leads to the arrest of an offender.  That reward could be as little as $50 or as large as $1000.CSQL Fundraising

Across Queensland, our Volunteers conduct fundraising activities in order to help pay for promotional items and also to raise money for the cash rewards program.

Fundraising activities conducted include social events like Golf Days, Bowls Days, Horse Racing Days, Sausage Sizzles and Walks Against Crime.

Our Volunteers coordinate and run each event for the benefit of both their local community and the State rewards program.  Yet another way that we contribute to your local safety.

A FOCUS ON OUR EFFORTS – Schoolies:

Each year Crime Stoppers Queensland manages the Schoolies Support Team Volunteers, engaged to assist with the Gold Coast Schoolies Community Safety Response.

The Safer Schoolies Initiative aims to enhance the safety of school leavers participating in end-of-school celebrations and the communities that host these celebrations. The combination of inexperience, lack of supervision and excessive consumption of alcohol has, in the past, led to incidents of anti-social behaviour that has disturbed residents and placed young people at risk of harm.

By facilitating the provision of support services and alternative activities to alcohol consumption, the Safer Schoolies Initiative helps to reduce the occurrence of these incidents and enhance community safety.

Queensland is an inclusive and diverse society that supports, values and
recognises the unique contributions of Volunteers to communities throughout the State. The Queensland Government values the Volunteers who donate their time to making Schoolies safer and acknowledges the important role they play in this regard.

Volunteers and employees working with Schoolies need to act with integrity and accountability, and demonstrate their capacity and maturity to support young people in this demanding environment.

Schoolies Support Team Volunteers and Crime Stoppers employees contribute to the safety and wellbeing of young people celebrating the completion of their schooling.

The role Crime Stoppers plays in managing the Support Service Team Volunteers is directly relevant to the organisations mission of ‘A safe empowered community’.

A FOCUS ON OUR EFFORTS – Youth:

Recently, Crime Stoppers Queensland has commenced its new Youth Connections group, which aims to further the involvement of the youth of Queensland in reporting anonymous information about crime, whilst understanding the important role our organisation and Volunteers play in their local communities.
